Fukuroda Onsen

Fukuroda Onsen lies in a mountain valley in Daigo Town in northern Ibaraki. Sitting close to Fukuroda Falls, counted among Japans three great waterfalls, it lets you bathe wrapped in the murmur of the stream and the green of the hills. Many travelers use it as a base for viewing the falls.

Access and Basic Information

From Fukuroda Station on the JR Suigun Line, head toward the falls by bus or taxi. By car, take the Naka interchange on the Joban Expressway and drive north on the national route. Some inns accept day visitors.

A Quick Tip

For the frozen falls, aim for the coldest days of midwinter. There is some walking to reach the cascade, so comfortable shoes are wise.
