Kochi Castle and Hirome Market Stroll
The center of Kochi City is easy to enjoy on foot, starting from Kochi Castle whose keep still stands today. After admiring the stone walls, wander through the shopping streets and market and taste the local bonito. This is a classic route that packs history and food into a single day.
Course Route
9:00 Start at Kochi Castle Enter through the Otemon gate and head to the keep and main hall that remain from the Edo period. Take your time enjoying the stone walls and the view over the old town.
10:30 Visit the Kochi Castle Museum of History Right beside the castle, learn about the history and records of the Tosa domain. There is also a viewing space that looks toward the keep.
11:30 Walk the Obiyamachi arcade Stroll through the covered shopping street below the castle. Peek into local shops as you make your way to Hirome Market.
12:00 Lunch at Hirome Market Order seared bonito at this market lined with food stalls. Savor the flavors of Kochi amid the lively atmosphere.
