Best Season

With mostly indoor shops it is comfortable year round. Clearance sale periods (early in the year and summer) are especially good for bargains.

Access and Practical Information

  • About an 8-minute walk from JR Senseki Line Nakanosakae Station; it is within walking distance of the station.
  • About 25 minutes by car from central Sendai. It is close to Sendai-ko IC (or Sendai-ko-kita IC) on the Sendai East Expressway, so car access is convenient.
  • The location is also easily reached from Sendai Airport.
  • Hours and sale periods may change, so checking official information before visiting is recommended.

Practical Travel Notes

  • Best season and time: Being mostly indoors, it is comfortable regardless of weather. Right after opening and before closing tend to be less crowded. Evening and night views from the Ferris wheel are also popular.
  • Time needed: Shopping and a meal take half a day; adding the nearby aquarium or a Kirin Beer Sendai Factory tour (reservation required) fills a full day.
  • Avoiding crowds: Weekends, holidays, and sale periods are busy, so weekday visits are recommended. Parking is easiest right after opening.
  • Nearby real spots: Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium, the Kirin Beer Sendai Factory, Shiogama Shrine and Shiogama sushi, and Matsushima all combine well with a visit to the Sendai Port area.
  • Budget sense: You can buy brand goods at outlet prices, and the food court is affordable. Aiming for sale periods makes it even better value.

A Word of Advice

Right after opening and before closing tend to be less crowded. Weekends and holidays are busy, so weekday visits are recommended. A classic flow is to take in the view from the Ferris wheel between shopping and taste Sendai specialties at the food court. Combined with the nearby aquarium or a brewery tour, you can enjoy a full day in the Sendai Port area.
