Tenkawa Onsen Center
Tenkawa Onsen Center is a village-run day bathing facility in Tsubouchi, Tenkawa village, close to Tenkawa Daibenzaiten shrine, known as a shrine of the performing arts. Built with a devotion to wood, the interior uses timber generously from the tubs to the pillars, wrapping you in a faint woody scent. The smooth water, called a beauty bath, quietly welcomes every visitor.Highlights
The indoor tub is framed in maki wood with a base of hinoki cypress, a luxurious build that makes the softness of the water against the skin truly special. From the open-air bath you can look out on the mountains of Tenkawa, and on weekdays you can enjoy a stillness like that of a hidden spring. A rest room is provided so you can sit down and relax after a soak. Many people stop by along with a shrine visit, and a cleansing of both body and mind seems to flow through the time spent here.Enjoying the Seasons
Spring brings mountain cherry blossoms and fresh green, and summer makes a bath after river play in the Tenkawa especially fine. Autumn adds the color of the surrounding foliage to your soak, and in winter the woody scent and warmth sink deeper into the heart amid snowy scenery. This is also a land of beautiful starry skies, so looking up after an evening bath is recommended.Access and Basic Information
The bath is in Tsubouchi, Tenkawa village, Yoshino district, Nara. It is reachable by bus from Kintetsu Shimoichiguchi Station and sits near Tenkawa Daibenzaiten shrine. By car you turn off the national route onto a village road. It is often closed on Thursdays and hours change with the season, so it is wise to confirm before visiting.A Quick Tip
Tenkawa is a sacred land known for famous water and its shrine. Adding a visit to Tenkawa Daibenzaiten shrine alongside the bath makes for a fuller day. Even in summer the nights turn cold, so it is good to bring a jacket.📍 Location & Access
