Kamiyu Onsen Shinyuso and Kawara-no-yu

Kamiyu Onsen is a hidden spring welling up in Deyatani, deep in the innermost valleys of Okuyoshino in Totsukawa village. The spring is in Deyatani, Totsukawa village, Yoshino district, Nara. Public transport here is quite limited, so coming by car is the realistic choice. From National Route 168 you climb a road that follows the valley. Open days and whether Kawara-no-yu is available depend on the weather, so it is reassuring to check with Shinyuso in advance.

Some stretches of road are narrow, so allow plenty of time when driving. Mobile reception can be poor in places, so saving a map beforehand is wise. Take your time and savor the silence that only a hidden spring can offer.
