Miegusuku Onsen Shimanchu no Yu: Day-Use Hot Spring

Although it sits in the heart of central Naha, this is a rare natural hot spring for a city location — something unusual in Okinawa in itself. Miegusuku Onsen "Shimanchu no Yu" is the large public bath on the second floor of Loisir Hotel Naha. Its origin differs from the hot springs of mainland Japan that are heated by volcanic activity: the source is fossil seawater from roughly eight million years ago, and the water carries a high salt content. Understanding How the Water Is Used

The spring quality is an iodine-containing sodium chloride spring, colorless and odorless, with a source temperature of 40.9°C. However, that is a little cool for bathing as it is, and the hotel clearly states that it heats the water to a comfortable temperature of 42–43°C. It is worth knowing in advance that this is not a bath you soak in at the untouched source temperature.
