Kanzanji Onsen
Spreading along the eastern shore of Lake Hamana in Hamamatsu, Kanzanji Onsen is one of the largest hot spring areas in Shizuoka outside of Izu. The town grew around Kanzanji temple, said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi about twelve hundred years ago, and has developed into a sightseeing hub offering open lakeside scenery and rich local flavors.Highlights
The amusement park beside the hot spring district and the observatory atop Mount Okusa, reached by ropeway, offer sweeping views of Lake Hamana. A bus from JR Hamamatsu Station conveniently reaches Kanzanji Onsen. It is also easy to access by car from the Hamamatsu-Nishi Interchange on the Tomei Expressway, making it an ideal base for touring Lake Hamana. Day-use hot spring facilities are available.A Quick Tip
