Teiregi no Yu

Minami-Dogo Onsen Teiregi no Yu, in the Nakano area of Matsuyama, is a day-use hot spring fed by a rare self-flowing source from 1200 meters underground. Its abundant water supports a wide array of baths.

Highlights

Open-air pools, a walking bath, a cascade bath, a rock bath and saunas are all on offer. The self-flowing natural water is mellow, and the appeal lies in taking your time moving from pool to pool.

Enjoying the Seasons

It can be enjoyed in any season, but in the cold months the open-air cool-down between the outdoor bath and sauna is superb. Warming from the feet up in the walking bath is also a good choice when the chill sets in.

Access and Basic Information

About 15 minutes by car from central Matsuyama. Open from early morning until late at night, it is a regular part of local life.

With so many kinds of baths, the trick is to try a bit of everything at a leisurely pace. Avoiding the busy early evening makes for a more comfortable visit.
