Echizen's Fishing Town: Mikuni

Mikuni is a fishing town at the mouth of the Kuzuryu River in Sakai City, Fukui, a port town that has flourished as a landing base for Echizen marine products. A tourist destination charming for its shopping streets, port, and hot springs retaining Showa-era atmosphere.

Mikuni's Fresh Marine Products

Mikuni Port has morning markets and fish shops lined up where fresh seafood including Echizen crab, sweet shrimp, mackerel, and flatfish can be purchased. Local restaurants allow enjoying fresh fish and seafood cuisine just landed.

Mikuni Onsen and Tojinbo

Mikuni Onsen is a hot spring resort with views overlooking the Sea of Japan, with some inns allowing bathing while overlooking the rough Japan Sea. Mikuni Port to Tojinbo is accessible by bus and car, with many travelers enjoying it combined with Tojinbo sightseeing.
