The area lies in Oguni, in the Aso district of Kumamoto Prefecture, on a highland near the Oita border. Visiting by car is the norm, following mountain roads from the direction of Aso or Oita. Some private baths and steaming pits require reservations, so it is wise to inquire in advance. The roads are winding, so it helps to check a map as you go.A Quick Tip
