Hayakawa Shrine

Hayakawa Shrine, set in a mountain valley in Saito, Miyazaki Prefecture, is an old shrine said to grant a single wish. It is cherished as a quiet hidden power spot that draws worshippers from within and beyond the prefecture, and even from abroad.

The enshrined deities are four gods known together as the Haraedo no Okami. Tradition holds that the shrine began when Ninigi no Mikoto enshrined here the spirit of Seoritsu-hime, whom he lost in a swift current, and it is said to bless purification, academic achievement, and exam success.

Highlights

- A quiet approach along the valley, a pleasant walk to the sound of the murmuring stream. - The Hebidaki, or dragon falls, remaining deep behind the main hall, long treasured as an object of dragon faith. - The seven waterfalls scattered nearby, a stretch of valley beauty long held sacred.

Enjoying the Seasons

Spring brings fresh greenery, summer the cool air of the valley, autumn the foliage, and winter a clear stillness, so each season offers its own face. Summer is especially pleasant for the coolness along the river, and a deep breath beside the falls refreshes both body and mind.

Access and Basic Information

- Location: Saito, Miyazaki Prefecture - Being in the mountains, access is essentially by car. - The path runs along the valley, so walk with care. - Since tradition says only one wish, it is best to think carefully about what to pray for before your visit.

A Quick Tip
