Miegusuku Onsen: Day-Use Hot Spring Baths & Prices

Tucked inside a hotel near the harbor of Naha City, Miegusuku Onsen is a natural hot spring that is rare to find in an urban setting. The water, pumped up from deep underground, contains salt and warms the body thoroughly. Close to Kokusai Street, it is a convenient base for both sightseeing and business trips.

Okinawa is warm year-round, but in summer the water gently restores a body chilled by air conditioning, while in winter the salty bath warms you before you head back out to town. After dinner along Kokusai Street at night, it makes for a perfect final soak.

Access and Basic Information

About ten minutes by car from Naha Airport, and within walking distance of Asahibashi Station on the Yui Rail monorail. It is a natural hot spring rising from deep underground, described as a salt-bearing fossil-seawater type, which warms the body deeply. Day-use bathing is accepted, and while the hours vary by facility, a broad window from morning to night is provided. The day-use fee is around two thousand-plus yen for adults and around a thousand-plus for children. Reception hours and fees may change, so it is wise to confirm the official information before your visit.

Practical Travel Notes

Being in central Naha, it is easy to drop by between or at the close of city sightseeing, such as dining and shopping on Kokusai Street or visiting Shuri Castle. About ten minutes from the airport by car, it also suits a stop on the first or last day of a trip. To avoid crowds, aim for the hours before dinner or a time outside the nighttime peak. Since salty water warms the body easily, keep soaks moderate, take breaks, and stay hydrated. Allow around thirty minutes to an hour for the bath, and for day use the budget is mainly the entry fee.

Practical Information for Your Visit

• Spring quality: Iodine-containing sodium chloride spring. It is colourless and odourless, and the source is fossil seawater some 8 million years old. It is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, stiff joints, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive complaints, haemorrhoids, sensitivity to cold, convalescence, recovery from fatigue, improved general health, cuts, burns, chronic skin conditions and weak constitution in children
• Source temperature and use of the water: The source gushes up naturally from 800 m underground at 40.9 degrees. It is heated to a comfortable 42 to 43 degrees
• Contraindications: Acute illness (especially with a fever), active tuberculosis, malignant tumours, respiratory failure, kidney failure, haemorrhagic disorders, severe anaemia, any illness that is actively worsening, and pregnancy (especially in the early and late stages)
• Day-use bathing (Shimanchu no Yu): Visitor reception is from 9:00 to 18:00. 2,000 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for ages 4 to 12, free for ages 0 to 3. The price includes the loan of one face towel and one bath towel and the use of the indoor spa pool and outdoor pool
• Day-use bathing (Uminchu no Yu): Visitor prices are 3,500 yen for adults, 1,750 yen for ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 0 to 3. The baths are open 7:00-23:00 (last admission 22:30)
• Discounts: With the digital tickets sold on the official website and on Asoview, Shimanchu no Yu costs 1,500 yen for adults and 750 yen for children, and Uminchu no Yu 2,500 yen for adults and 1,250 yen for children. They are valid for 60 days from the date of purchase, and reception for using the facilities is from 9:00 to 17:00. Shimanchu no Yu also has books of tickets, 5 for 8,500 yen and 10 for 17,000 yen
• Closures for equipment inspection: From April 2025 an inspection day has been set each month. For Shimanchu no Yu it is the third Wednesday of the month and for Uminchu no Yu the second Wednesday; in both cases the men's bath is unavailable from 12:00 to 13:00 and the women's bath from 13:00 to 14:00
• Open-air baths: Both Shimanchu no Yu and Uminchu no Yu have them
• Amenities: Shampoo, hair conditioner, body soap, hand and face soap, hairdryers, brushes, toothbrushes, razors and cotton buds. Shaving items in the men's bath, and lotion, milky lotion and cleansing oil in the women's bath. Extra towels cost 100 yen each for both bath towels and face towels
• Tattoos: Guests with tattoos are asked to refrain from using the facility. On the other hand, bathing while wearing a medical bathing garment is permitted
• With children: Infants who are not yet out of nappies may use the facility, but may not go into the bathtubs; a baby bathtub is provided for them instead. Boys may enter the women's bath and girls the men's bath only up to the age of 6 (pre-school age)
• Parking: Loisir Hotel & Spa Tower Naha has 267 spaces, and the East Wing and Annex have 36. Users of the hot spring and pools park free for 4 hours from entry
• Access: About 7 to 15 minutes by taxi from Naha Airport (via the Okinawa West Coast Road and the Umisora Tunnel). By Yui Rail it is about 25 minutes from the airport; get off at Asahibashi Station and walk about 15 minutes
