Getting There & Tips

From Naha Airport, the shrine is accessible by taxi (about 10 minutes) or by bus from Naha Bus Terminal (about 15 minutes) to the Wakasa stop. From Shuri Station on the Yui Rail, a taxi takes about 10 minutes. The shrine grounds are free to enter. Allow 30–45 minutes. The clifftop position makes the shrine especially photogenic in the late afternoon light.

Best Time to Visit

The shrine is beautiful year-round in Okinawa's mild subtropical climate. The New Year period draws large crowds for hatsumode. The Naminoue Festival in spring features traditional music and dance. Clear weather from November to June offers the best ocean views from the clifftop.
