Japan's Tallest Hina Display

Konosu City has been known as a doll production area since the Edo period, nationally famous as "the doll town of Konosu." The "Konosu Bikkuri (Surprising) Hinamatsuri" held February-March each year displays Japan's tallest hina pyramid at about 7m high and 31 tiers.

Tradition of Doll Making

Konosu's doll industry began in the mid-Edo period, with many workshops still preserving traditional techniques. Many workshops manufacture and sell traditional Japanese dolls including hina dolls, hamayumi bows, and May festival dolls.

Konosu Flower Town

Konosu City is also famous for flower cultivation, known as a cosmos production area. The "Konosu Cosmos Festival" is held in autumn with vast cosmos fields spreading as far as the eye can see.
