Hachinohe Enburi

Held annually February 17โ€“20 in Hachinohe, Aomori, the Hachinohe Enburi is a prayer ritual for a bountiful harvest with over 800 years of history. Designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, it is Hachinohe's biggest winter event.

Highlights

  • Eboshi Hat Dance: Performers wearing ornate 60cm-tall eboshi hats perform elegant dances symbolizing rice-planting
  • Two Enburi Styles: Nagaenburi and Dosaienuburi differ by neighborhood tradition
