Spreading across a vast site in Misawa, Hoshino Resort Aomoriya is a hot spring resort where you can savor the charms of Aomori all at once. Beyond bathing while gazing at a beautifully kept Japanese garden, its greatest appeal is the chance to experience Aomori folk culture within the resort, from the Nebuta festival to Tsugaru shamisen. It is an inn where the journey itself becomes a celebration of all things Aomori.

Highlights

The spacious open-air bath, Ukiyu, is designed to seem to float above a pond, letting you feel the seasonal beauty of the garden up close. In the evening, a show themed on Aomori festivals is held, bringing you into contact with local performing arts. Dishes made with regional ingredients let you fully taste the bounty of Aomori.

Enjoying the Seasons

Fresh green in spring, a festive mood in summer, foliage in autumn, and snow-viewing baths in winter, the garden changes its face each season. In particular, the open-air bath while gazing at a snow-clad garden feels dreamlike, letting you fully enjoy an Aomori winter.

Access and Basic Information

A free shuttle bus runs from Misawa Station on the Aoimori Railway and takes about 3 minutes, so access is easy. A shuttle bus also runs from Misawa Airport, making it a convenient base for a journey from afar. The spring is described as an alkaline simple spring, known for its soft feel on the skin. The vast grounds are dotted with hot springs, gardens, and a park.

Practical Travel Notes

Within the resort, a show themed on Aomori four great festivals, called Michinoku Matsuriya, is performed, and since it runs on a set schedule, checking the timetable after arrival ensures you do not miss it. The open-air bath Ukiyu faces the garden pond and offers different scenery with each season. The shuttle bus from Misawa Airport may require advance reservation, so if you arrive by plane, contact the inn early for peace of mind. As the grounds are large, allow a little extra time for moving around the resort.

A Quick Tip

It is a perfect inn for anyone who wants to enjoy Aomori culture and hot springs all at once. Because the shows and in-house events run on set times, planning your day right after check-in helps you enjoy them smoothly. With a free shuttle from Misawa Station, it also serves conveniently as a base for a rail journey.

The opening hours of Motoyu (9:00 to 21:00, last admission 20:00), the bathing fees (450 yen for adults, 150 yen for elementary school children, 60 yen for children aged 4 and over, free for children under 3), the amenities and the availability of parking were confirmed in the list of hot spring facilities in the official tourism guidebook Kite! Misawa published by Misawa City. The free shuttle buses from Misawa Station and Misawa Airport (about 3 minutes from Misawa Station, about 20 minutes from Misawa Airport) are based on the official Aomoriya website. The fact that there are no closing days and the arrangements for day-use bathing come from the tourism information published by Tsugaru Kaikyo Ferry. The spring quality of alkaline simple spring, its standing as a bath for beautiful skin, and the access details of 15 minutes by car from Misawa Airport and 5 minutes from the Daini-Michinoku IC come from tourism information issued by the Tohoku Tourism Promotion Organization. The bathing hours for overnight guests and the fact that it is free for them come from hot spring information compiling the facility's guidance. The history of Komaki Onsen (the founding of Hotel Saigyodo in 1962, the application for the Civil Rehabilitation Act in November 2004, the start of collaboration with Hoshino Resorts in November 2005 and the change of name in April 2008), and the 1878 construction of the former Shibusawa Residence, the completion of its restoration in 1991 and the purchase agreement of June 2018 come from the encyclopedia entry on Komaki Onsen, while the start of public opening in Shiomi, Koto Ward on April 10, 2025 comes from the official website of the former Shibusawa Residence (the former Shibusawa family house). The 2006 opening of Michinoku Matsuriya, its refurbishment in April 2022 to focus on the show, and the fact that it is for overnight guests only and requires a reservation were confirmed in the Michinoku Matsuriya guidance on the official Hoshino Resorts website. As these details can change, please check the official information before you set out.
