Matsuyama Castle

Matsuyama Castle, built on the summit of Katsuyama (about 132 meters) in the center of Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, is a hilltop castle whose construction was begun in 1602 by Kato Yoshiaki, one of the Seven Spears of Shizugatake. It is one of the precious twelve surviving original keeps remaining from before the Edo period, and the view from the keep overlooking the city is spectacular. The hilltop castle, the townscape of Matsuyama, and the Seto Inland Sea can all be seen at a glance, making it one of Shikoku's foremost famous castles. A Famous Castle Built by Kato Yoshiaki
