One of Japan's Three Great Fireworks Festivals

The Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks is held August 2-3 annually, one of Japan's three great fireworks festivals. The "Reconstruction Prayer Fireworks Phoenix" is the highlight, incorporating wishes for reconstruction of WWII war damage areas and disaster recovery including the Great Hanshin and Great East Japan Earthquakes.

Power of the 3-Shaku Ball

The "3-shaku ball" featuring a 90cm-diameter giant shell has a blooming diameter of 600-700m of spectacular fireworks. The giant flower filling the night sky overwhelms audiences with its sight.

Viewing Along the Shinano River

About 20,000 fireworks are launched from venues along the Shinano River. Securing viewing spots is difficult, requiring early preparation.
