Nagahama Taiko Onsen

Springing up right beside Nagahama Castle on the northeast side of Lake Biwa, Nagahama Taiko Onsen is a relatively new spring uncovered near the castle ruins in 1983. Closely linked to the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, it is also known as the water of children.

Rich in iron, the water warms the body to its core and keeps the chill away long after bathing. Lakeside inns look out over the sun setting into Lake Biwa, letting you enjoy the bath and the view at once.
