Naruto Onsen: Day-Use Hot Spring Baths & Prices

This natural hot spring belongs to a resort within the Setonaikai National Park, overlooking the Naruto Strait. You can enjoy both the sea scenery famed for its whirlpools and a bath long cherished as a beauty spring.

From spring through autumn the blue sea and bridge views are crisp, and summer nights of fireworks and surf are exceptional. The whirlpools grow largest at certain tides, so pairing your visit with whirlpool viewing makes for a full day. At the foot of the Onaruto Bridge, the Uzu no Michi walkway lets you look straight down on the whirlpools, so combining a soak with whirlpool viewing makes a day unique to Naruto.

Access and Basic Information

It is in Ohge, Tosadomari-ura, Naruto-cho, Naruto City. It is a very short drive from the Naruto-kita Interchange on the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway, and about 15 minutes by taxi from JR Naruto Station.

A Quick Tip

At dusk the sea and bridge glow orange for a stunning view. Check the whirlpool viewing times in advance and plan a sightseeing boat together with your soak.

Practical Information for Your Visit

• Spring quality: Sodium chloride spring, weakly alkaline at pH 8.0. It is said to help with stiff shoulders, neuralgia, recovery from fatigue, sensitivity to cold and skin beauty
• Source: Drawn from 1,120 metres underground, from strata about 100 million years old. The salt content is extremely high
• Open-air baths: Hanada on the 1st floor is a Japanese-style open-air bath built of natural rock, alternating between men and women. Ruri on the 8th floor is a view bath with an adjoining sauna, fixed for men and women respectively since June 26, 2025
• Bathing hours (1st-floor open-air bath): Monday 5:00 to 11:00 and 12:00 to 24:00; Tuesday 5:00 to 9:00 and 15:00 to 24:00; Wednesday to Sunday 5:00 to 10:00 and 12:00 to 24:00
• Bathing hours (8th-floor view bath): Monday 5:00 to 9:00 and 15:00 to 24:00; Tuesday 5:00 to 11:00 and 12:00 to 24:00; Wednesday to Sunday 5:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 24:00
• Day bathing: Drop-in bathing for the hot spring alone is not accepted. All day-trip plans that include the hot spring must be booked in advance, and on the day you collect your ticket from the Terrace Cafe Auge on the 1st floor from 9:00
• Examples of day-trip plans: The lunch and hot spring plan combining the Awa Zanmai local-cuisine buffet, the hot spring and the fishing pond costs 5,000 yen for adults, 4,000 yen for seniors (aged 75 and over), 3,000 yen for elementary school children and 2,000 yen for infants (September 1 to December 29, 2026, with some excluded dates; apply by 17:00 the previous day). From September to November a plan that adds digging for Naruto Kintoki sweet potatoes is also offered (5,500 yen for adults and so on)
• Plans with relaxation treatments: A 45-minute treatment with lunch and the hot spring from 10,500 yen, or from 15,000 yen if you upgrade to a 75-minute treatment. Book on the dedicated line by 20:00 the previous day
• Tattoos: The rules were relaxed on April 15, 2026, and bathing is permitted if the tattoo can be covered by 2 of the hotel's cover seals. This applies to Naruto Onsen, the outdoor pool and the beach
• Amenities: Towels, bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial cleanser, cleansing lotion, toner, milky lotion, hair tonic, shower caps, hairbrushes and more are provided
• Children in the baths: Boys of elementary school age and above use the men's bath and girls the women's bath. Cameras and mobile phones may not be used in the bathing areas
• Parking: Underground car park No. 1 (height limit 2.1 metres) and outdoor car parks No. 2 and No. 3. There are accessible parking spaces beside the entrance
• Getting there (by car): Turn left immediately after the Naruto-Kita IC on the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway. About 1 hour from Kobe, about 2 hours from Osaka, about 1 hour from Takamatsu and about 30 minutes from Tokushima Awaodori Airport
• Getting there (by bus): The Aoawo Naruto Resort-mae stop is right in front of the hotel, served by direct highway buses from the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area, Okayama, Hiroshima and Takamatsu. From July 20, 2026, the UZS BUS airport limousine service calls here via Tokushima Awaodori Airport and JR Naruto Station, at 800 yen one way for adults (half price for children) from the airport to the hotel. The hotel's free shuttle bus linking the airport and JR Naruto Station with the hotel ended on July 19, 2026. The free shuttle bus between the Kosoku Naruto bus stop and the hotel continues to run (reservation required)
• Nearby: The Otsuka Museum of Art is about 3 minutes away by car, about 4 minutes by local bus or about 20 minutes on foot. Uzu-no-Michi, the whirlpool sightseeing boats and Naruto Park are also close, and the southern part of Awaji Island is about 10 minutes away by car
