πŸ”οΈ Fukushima|May 17, 2026

Sauce Katsudon (Aizu Style)

Aizu Wakamatsu's signature bowl β€” crispy pork cutlet soaked in Worcestershire sauce and placed over plain rice. No egg. Pure and honest.

Kitakata Ramen

One of Japan's top three ramen styles. Thick wavy noodles in a pork and soy broth β€” there are so many shops in Kitakata City that morning ramen (asa-ra) is a local tradition.

Fukushima Peaches

Fukushima is Japan's top peach producer. Varieties like Akatsuki and Kawanakajima Hakuto are celebrated for their juicy sweetness.

Enban Gyoza

Dumplings arranged in a large disc and pan-fried together β€” a speciality of Fukushima City with impressive visual impact.

Stick Cod (Bou-dara ni)

Aizu's preserved food tradition β€” dried pollock simmered in sweet soy sauce. A classic side dish and souvenir from the castle town.

Access

Aizu Wakamatsu and Kitakata City have the highest concentration of specialty restaurants. Kitakata ramen shops open early for morning diners.
